Key Competitive Attractions

Morocco is situated at the crossroads of the main international exchange routes, linking the United States of America, Europe, Africa and the Middle-East.

The country is a prime target for export-oriented investment. It is situated only 14km south of Europe, yet offers wage levels ten times lower than in Spain. In addition, Morocco has free trade agreements with 55 countries, ensuring duty free access to 1 billion consumers and 60% of the world's GDP.

Morocco is the first country on the southern side of the Mediterranean to benefit from advanced status in relations with the European Union. The country has also signed free trade agreements with the USA, Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia and Turkey.

In addition, the country benefits from a strong economy. It grew with an average rate of 5.1% in the years 2001-2009. During the international financial crisis, Morocco still achieved GDP growth of 4.9%, which was the highest rate in the Mediterranean region for that year.

The country has a young and active population, with 64% aged under 34. It is home to 16 Universities and 170 private higher education institutions. 400,000 students graduate every year, including 10 000 engineers.
