Iran is the fourth largest producer of oil and has the second largest gas reserves in the world. The country is also one of the largest producers of zinc, cobalt, aluminium, manganese and copper. The primary export items are petroleum, chemical and petrochemical products, fruits, nuts and carpets. Non-oil related industries include steel, tobacco, textiles, leather, chemicals and automotive manufacturing.
There are six free trade zones and 16 special economic zones in Iran. Advantages include tax exemptions and the possibility of 100% foreign ownership.

Assistance and Support For New Business Investors
The Foreign Investment Services Centre provides information and offers consultancy services to foreign investors. The centre also gives information on how to obtain a foreign investment licence and assists in communication with other organizations and ministries.
