Stockport Council Scoops Top Property Award

STOCKPORT COUNCIL SCOOPS TOP PROPERTY AWARD

Stockport Council beat off tough competition to be crowned joint ‘Public Sector Team of the Year’ at the Insider Property Awards North West 2010.

Over 800 property professionals attended the prestigious awards at Manchester Central last Thursday, which toasted the region’s top property performers.

Developers recommended Stockport Council for the award and judges described Stockport’s year as “jobs, jobs and more jobs”.

Councillor Kevin Hogg, Executive Member for Regeneration, at Stockport Council, said: “This is fantastic news and is a testament to the commitment and enthusiasm of Stockport Council’s pioneering and resourceful employees.

“The award recognises the hard work of a range of Council services including planning, economic development and regeneration.

“Despite the tough economic climate, Stockport continues to buck the trend, last year seeing over 1,400 new jobs in the borough.”

Recent investment successes for Stockport include the BSkyB announcement of 550 new jobs at BAM Properties’ St Peter’s Square development on the A6, 300 new jobs at Jacobs Engineering at Cheadle Royal Business Park and over 100 new jobs at Stockport Business Incubator in Reddish.
