Ternopil Regional Council
Key Competitive Attractions
The Ternopil region is located in the western part of Ukraine, occupying a favourable geographic position on a crossroad of important European transit routes. The region has a diverse industrial base facilitated by natural and human resources, with a particularly well-developed agricultural industry.
The main wealth of the Ternopil region is its land, the total area of which is 1,382,400 ha, dominated by black and grey ashed soil - the most fertile soil in the world. The high proportion of fertile soil and flat land makes it ideal for agricultural activities, food and drink production, and the exportation of black soil.
The territory of the region is rich in mineral resources which are used largely in the construction and construction materials industry, including clay, chalk, gypsum, limestone, construction sand, quartz sand, and peat.
The Ternopil region has a bundle of opportunities to develop a flourishing health and nature tourism industry. Ternopil benefits from considerable reserves of mineral and medicinal water, as well as famous natural attractions such as Tovtroviy Ridge, the Kremenets Mountains, the Dnister Canyon, and several karsts, caves and castles.
