Kiev Regional Council
Key Competitive Attractions
Kiev is advantageously situated in the heart of Europe, and possesses all the necessary conditions for the region’s development. Moderate climate, fertile soil, rich mineral resources, developed agricultural industry, efficient infrastructure, and cost competitive human resources all combine to create a competitive investment environment in the Kiev region.
Kiev is also an electric power saturated region, home to energy generating enterprises such as TEPP, HEPP and HAEPP.
The main mineral resources in Kiev that are used for industry are granite, gneiss, kaolin, clay, quartz sand, peat and mineral water. However, considerable reserves of mineral resources remain unexplored, and could have the potential to be used in the construction and chemical industries, given the right investment.
In addition to traditional industries, Kiev is the financial centre of Ukraine. Out of the 30 largest Ukrainian commercial banks, 18 have their headquarters in the city.
The region also enjoys a vibrant tourism, and poses much potential for further tourism development, particularly in holiday tourism, and health and medical tourism, thanks to the moderate climate, abundant mineral water resources, and the cultural and historical wealth of the region.
