Connections By Freight Ports
The Humber Ports are the UK`s largest ports complex, and are located 58 miles away. They can be reached by motorway in just over 1 hour from the Rotherham area. The Liverpool ports are a 2 hour journey away. Both complexes serve a worldwide market for both export and import goods, and can handle a wide variety of cargoes, both wet and dry.
Rotherham also connects to these ports via the South Yorkshire Navigation Canal, enabling direct access for barges of up to an 800 tonne capacity.

Broadband / ICT Facilities
Rotherham has good existing broadband access, with fibre optic facilities travelling alongside the motorway network that crosses the borough. Manvers, in the north of the borough, has a BT e-location infrastructure in place for local businesses, utilising fibre optics.
Additionally, there is the South Yorkshire Digital Region project, now underway. This - the first project of its kind in the UK - will offer next generation broadband for businesses and residents of the borough, with speeds of up to 100MB/s.
