The team manage direct development projects and assist partners with the Sub Regional Investment Planning process, enabling them to bring their projects to a level at which they can be considered for funding from bodies such as Yorkshire Forward.
A large proportion of the team’s time is spent problem-solving with partners, delivering projects and providing strategic development and property advice.

Education
Barnsley benefits from a range of excellent academic institutions including Barnsley College, one of the largest further and higher education establishments in Europe which is situated on a number of sites throughout the town centre and which is currently undergoing a massive redevelopment. The University of Huddersfield has recently opened a campus in the town on Church Street. In addition, the region has 14 secondary schools which are soon to be combined into smaller numbers of Advanced Learning Centres.
Culture
Barnsley has a rich and diverse heritage and can boast a range of cultural activities and groups. Moreover, the Yorkshire and Humber region has one of the best theatre infrastructures outside London, with 6 major theatres and over 300 performance venues attracting world-class artistes. Leeds’ West Yorkshire Playhouse now stages more productions than any other theatre outside London, and internationally ranked playwright Sir Alan Ayckbourn premieres all his plays at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough. Other nationally acclaimed companies include Opera North, Hull Truck Theatre Company and Phoenix Dance Theatre.
