North Lincolnshire Council - Universities & Research
On the doorstep of North Lincolnshire is the University of Hull. The university is renowned for its business school, which incorporates The Logistics Institute – a world-class centre for logistics and supply chain management. As well as offering undergraduate and postgraduate business courses, the Business School works closely with businesses and organisations on cutting-edge applied consultancy, research, and technology development.
The wider Yorkshire & Humber region has one of Europe’s largest concentrations of universities. The region's 14 universities proudly boast high academic achievements. The University of York was recently ranked 6th out of 172 higher education institutes for research; The University of Hull was shortlisted for University of the Year; and the University of Sheffield was described as ‘top university across the board’ by the Virgin 2008 alternative guide to British Universities.
Specialist industry training centre
Also on the doorstep is the pioneering CATCH (Centre for Assessment of Technical Competency – Humber), an innovative centre for competency assessments and upskilling training and support. The centre has fully equipped engineering workshops and working process plants for practical training sessions in a safe environment. CATCH can also assist companies with emergency shutdown and response procedures, certification and licensing.
