North Lincolnshire Council
Key Competitive Attractions
Major locational advantages, supply chain efficiencies, and access to a skilled workforce and a large market have established North Lincolnshire as a primary location for national and international businesses relocating and investing in Yorkshire and the Humber. And with land and property prices lower than its counterparts in Yorkshire and Humber, North Lincolnshire provides businesses a significant competitive advantage from the outset.
North Lincolnshire`s central UK location and extensive transport infrastructure has established the area as a global gateway for distribution and logistics. Local distribution channels include some of the UK`s least congested motorways, two international airports next-door at Humberside and Doncaster, with the UK`s second largest heliport at Humberside Airport.
For heavy industry and the energy sector, one of the area`s core strengths is direct access to the South Humber Ports of Immingham, Grimsby and Killingholme. The ports are the busiest in the UK by tonnage of cargo handled, and with further port developments planned, the port`s capacity will only grow.
The real jewel in the crown for North Lincolnshire is the South Humber Gateway - 4 sq miles of prime development land fronting the Humber deep water esturay and adjacent to the South Humber Ports. This site is prime for the UK renewable energy sector, with investments expected to reach over £2bn from the private and public sector.
