Current Investment in Shropshire...

Shropshire borders Wales, sits south of Cheshire and the Wirral, and is the furthest west of all the Midlands counties. The county town is Shrewsbury, with the vision to be a prosperous sub regional area within the West Midlands by 2026. Shrewsbury has Growth Point Status and is a Regional Funding Impact Investment Location.

The Growth point development will ensure 3,500 new dwellings by 2016, and targeting brownfield, greenfield and public sector-owned land for development. Already, 12 acres of brownfield land has been made ready for use.

Shropshire has planned development in its large market towns - these towns are key to the economic prosperity and quality of life in Shropshire. Whitchurch, Oswestry and Market Drayton are large market towns in the north of the county. Bridgnorth is located in east Shropshire and Ludlow is furthest south.

Environmental Technologies and Services are a key strength, the sector is vibrant, forward thinking and over 50% of all environmental technologies businesses here are less than 10 years old. Employment in Shropshire's environmental industries is growing between 5% and 10% annually. Further strategic growth is planned through the expansion of Shropshire's ETS network to build critical mass across the Marches region.
