Key Reasons:
The Bristol area has one of the largest concentrations of aerospace and defence related activities in Europe with an estimated 30,000 workforce. Airbus in the UK, GKN Aerospace and Rolls-Royce have large plants to the north of Bristol and many sub contract companies have a strong presence in the area.

Procurement opportunities
Locating in the Bristol area gives defence and aerospace suppliers close physical access to the UK`s leading primary aerospace contractors as well as the MoD`s Defence Equipment and Support Organisation (DE&S), located at Abbey Wood.
Access to a large and skilled workforce
Approximately 20,000 people work in the aerospace sector in engineering, research, development and design, and related support activities. There are over 800 graduates and postgraduates on aerospace engineering related courses at local universities.
A strong aerospace research capability
The area`s three universities collaborate with aerospace and defence companies on R&D projects. A new £16 million National Composites Centre is due to open in Bristol in April 2011.
Trade association support
The West of England Aerospace Forum (WEAF) is an influential trade association: activities include networking, lobbying, participation in industry events, consultancy advice, recruitment support and a contracts notification service.
