Connections By Road

Devon is well connected by road, with major trunk roads including the A30, A38 and A380, offering fast dual carriageway links within the county and out to the west.

From Exeter, the M5 motorway provides an excellent link to the rest of the UK, linking to the M4 at Bristol and the rest of the UK motorway network at Birmingham. There is a comprehensive maintenance and renewal programme, and a series of planned upgrades, including the Kingkerswell Bypass on the A380.

The urban areas are well-served with excellent connectivity, but in more rural areas fast broadband or next generation access can be a challenge, depending on distance from the exchange. Work is underway to ensure that the Digital Britain recommendations of 2 MBPS are not only met but significantly exceeded.
