Investment in Ashford - present and future...

Ashford is set to create 28,000 new jobs by 2031. Part of this plan is to develop over 2million sq ft of new office space in the town. Large areas of employment space have been allocated both in the town centre and in areas with excellent access to motorway junctions.

  • Commercial Quarter - 590,000 sq ft of office development next to Ashford International railway station in the town centre. The development will also include 26,000 sq ft of street-level retail and leisure outlets and 150 residential units. The entire quarter will cover 16 acres.
  • Elwick Place - 6.65acres of prime town centre brownfield space for mixed-use development. Development of 300 residential units and 27,000sqm retail, leisure and commercial space is proposed.
  • Eureka Park - A major business park comprising in excess of 300,000 sq ft of built business space with outline consent for a further 1,100,000 sq ft, together with car parking at a ratio of 1:280 sq ft. It is set in a 96 acre prime business location just off Junction 9 of the M20 motorway. The park has capability to satisfy business park requirements from 1,400 sq ft upwards, and bespoke design and build solutions in excess of 1,000,000 sq ft.
  • Waterbrook - A mixed-use development site off Junction 10 of the M20 motorway, providing at least 15 ha of land for employment uses.
  • Sevington - A site allocated for large-scale employment developments off Junction 10 of the M20 motorway. This site is allocated in the Core Strategy for future development.

 

Transport

Transport infrastructure is key to development in Ashford. The town has secured government funding to proceed with a variety of transport projects over the next 5 years, to enable developments to move forward with demand.

  • Junction 10a - new Ashford motorway junction on the M20, unlocking development to the South of Ashford.
  • Victoria Way - new road linking the East and West of the town, and creating a new street with high quality public realm.
  • Junction Improvements - improvements to an existing motorway junction to increase capacity and enable further development

 

Housing

Ashford is set to build 31,000 new homes by 2031, doubling the population of the town. The majority of these homes will be built in new urban extensions to the South of the existing town.

  • Chillmington Green and Cheesemans Green - 7000 dwellings to be built in each of the new urban extensions by 2031. Both extensions will include a purpose built high street and the opportunity for commercial development.

Waterbrook - A mixed-use development site off Jct 10 of the M20 motorway, providing at least 15 ha of land for employment uses.

Sevington - A site allocated for large scale employment developments off Jct 10 of the M20 motorway. This site is allocated in the Core Strategy for future development.

Commercial Quarter

Mixed Use Development

A 16 acre site that has been allocated in the Ashford Town Centre Area Action Plan to become a dynamic new main business sector for the town stimulating major investment opportunities in new large scale office space (55,000m²) that exploits the excellent strategic rail links, playing a leading role in job creation in the town.

Road Infrastructure

A new junction to increase the capacity of the current road network, and improve journey times, access and business opportunities at the planned Cheeseman`s Green and Waterbrook communities, and Sevington business park.


Elwick Place

Mixed Use Development

A 2.6 hectare development site. This area south of the Town Centre offers the opportunity to create a potential mixed-use development in excess of 54,000 m² featuring retail, leisure facilities, offices and residential accommodation. The site is being taken forward through a joint venture parternership between SEEDA and Stanhope PLC

It is set in a 96 acre prime business location just off Junction 9 of the M20. The park has capability to satisfy business park requirements from 1,400 sq ft upwards, and bespoke design and build solutions in excess of 1,000,000 sq ft.

The Business Park is currently home to top companies such as the Headquarters of Brake Brothers, Smiths Medical International, Adastra Software and Commidea.
