Basingstoke is in the Thames Valley, to the west of London, and has a significant number of international and national businesses calling it their home. Companies based here include the Automobile Association(AA), Barclays, Sony, Winterthur Life, Motorola, De La Rue and Huawei Technologies. Other companies who are well known in the Basingstoke community include Centerprise, Fyffes and The Game Group.
Basingstoke is less than one hour from central London and Heathrow, and is very close to other business centres, such as Reading, Slough, Oxford. This makes the town an excellent location for logistics and manufacturing operations.
Basingstoke is one of the only two towns in the south east of England to have planned provision of next generation access broadband by the end of 2010.
