Key Competitive Attractions
Preston is undergoing major regeneration and it's master-plan outlines a £1.8 billion programme of investment to regenerate the city into a major competitor in the North-West economy. The Regional Economic Strategy acknowledges the city as a key impetus of city-regional growth.
Actively working with local strategic partners, the council is developing and delivering Preston’s ‘Third City Vision’.
Key projects include:
- Preston Tithebarn
- 21st Century Central Business District in the city centre, creating 135,000 sqm office space.
- Regenerate under-utilised waterways, totalling £800 million
- Green City Spaces – enhancement of city centre parks and open spaces.
- Improved accessibility to the city centre.
- Sustainable urban transport improvements in the city centre, such as the EU funded CIVITAS project.
