Trains to London Euston depart every twenty minutes and take two hours.
Metrolink is an on-street light rail system, and is a major part of an integrated transport system for Manchester city region. Major investment totalling £1Bn means that the Metrolink network will double in size with four new lines due to open in 2011/2012.
Connections By Air
Manchester Airport is the UK`s largest regional airport, serving more destinations worldwide than any other UK airport. It currently offers flights to 225 destinations.
Major planned investment includes a £35m re-development of Terminal 1, security upgrades in Terminal 2 and a further platform for the train station.
The airport is situated 20 minutes from Manchester city centre, and is conveniently accessible by public transport.
Manchester Airport has the largest freight terminal outside London, handling around 170,000 tonnes of freight and mail per year, increasing to around 250,000 tonnes of cargo per year by 2015.

Connections By Freight Ports
Manchester Ship Canal is a major inland waterway, stretching from Manchester to the Port of Liverpool. The Port and Canal together handle more than 40 million tonnes of cargo and 15,000 ship movements annually - making the River Mersey Britain's third busiest estuary.
Major investment by Peel Ports, totalling over £200 million, will see further developments of the Port and Canal as hubs for international trade with significant cost savings to transport freight from Far East markets compared to southern coastal ports, and a ‘green` alternative to inland road haulage.
