Regeneration
Led by urban regeneration company, New East Manchester Ltd, both the public and private sector are spear-heading the transformation of east Manchester. Covering almost 2,000 hectares immediately east of Manchester City Centre. Itself one of the most dynamic cities in England, New East Manchester is regenerating this huge area of former industrial significance and recognising the growth potential in a once depleted area, with 2.2 million sq ft of business space already built.
Connectivity
East Manchester is one of the best-connected areas of the city. It is served by four major arterial roads, all with good access to the Manchester Orbital motorway, the M60, allowing connections nationally. The M60 also connects east Manchester to the regional airport, the UK's third busiest, giving access to more than 170 global destinations. Two nearby mainline stations in the heart of the city provide services to London every 30 minutes, whilst a number of stations provide local connections. The area`s transport infrastructure has been boosted by the commencement of the Metrolink expansion, which began earlier this year and is due to open in spring 2011.
Cost of staffing and premises
Other factors encouraging the move to east Manchester include the cost of staffing and premises. The lower cost of living in the Manchester city region, compared with the rest of the UK, means that salaries and hourly rates of pay can realistically remain competitive without adversely affecting levels of personal disposable income. It also means that commercial rents remain competitive and attractive.
