The Corridor Manchester is home to some of the UK`s best educational institutes.
Manchester University is UK's largest single-site university and is one of the world`s leading centres for biomedical research. The independent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) recognises the University`s quality and volume of research which is unparalleled in the UK.
Manchester Metropolitan University is one of Europe`s most extensive education centres. The University is an international leader in clothing design and technology, one of the UK`s largest creative communities and one of the largest providers of science, engineering and technology education.
The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) is the first choice institution for professional musicians from the UK and overseas. The RNCM offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses and was awarded funding to establish a Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), the only UK music conservatoire to receive such an award.

The Corridor enjoys a diverse cultural scene with an eclectic mix of significant museums and galleries covering everything from international masters to ancient artefacts, a number of theatres where West End productions sit comfortably alongside cutting-edge dance performances, independent cinema and exhibition spaces as well as a string of live music venues, from classical to rock.
Recreational Activities
The Corridor is home to two large public parks: Whitworth Park and Grosvenor Park. The community parks feature mature tree lined walks, lawns and woodland and are popular for relaxation, casual sports and one-off events.
Major investment will see The Corridor Manchester to be transformed into a green, open space with mature trees, green walls and roofs and an I Forest established adjacent to Birley Fields campus.
Visitors to the city will be drawn down the Corridor by the attractive landscaping and vibrancy of the culture and leisure offer, public art installations, events and festivals.
Alternative Energy / Environmental Issues
Manchester is committed to reducing carbon emissions by 41% by 2020 and combating climate change. Manchester City Council has recently produced its strategy to ensure the city is leading the way in tackling the challenges we face. The plan, entitled Manchester: A Certain Future - Our Collective Action On Climate Change, was coordinated by the City Council but written by nearly 100 organisations including Manchester Friends Of The Earth www.manchesterclimate.com
