Sunderland arc

Sunderland arc (area regeneration company) has bold ambitions to transform the urban landscape of the city and to accelerate the redevelopment of Wearside, creating thousands of jobs.

Sunderland arc’s geographical area covers 542 ha (1,340 acres), along the banks of the River Wear and in the city centre. Its targets are 13,600 new job opportunities through the creation of 380,000 m2 of new business/leisure and retail space, and the regeneration of 306 hectares of Brownfield land.

To date, Sunderland arc, with the support of its partners, Sunderland City Council, One North East and the Homes and Communities Agency, has attracted over £100m of private and £75m of public investment into Sunderland. (May 2009)
