1st East is one of 19 Urban Regeneration Companies based in England, and has been tasked with transforming the brownfield and waterfront areas of Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, with the aim of returning these two towns to their former prosperity.

1st East want to further develop these two main towns into great places to live, work and visit, and then build on the uniqueness of their location on the scenic East Coast of England. The organistion also provides a supportive business culture for growth, and a focused environmental economic approach for both on and off-shore projects.

The company is led by the private sector and receives Government funding to facilitate these aims.
