Key Competitive Attractions
East Hertfordshire offers both beautiful countryside, with excellent communications. The M11 motorway runs through Bishop's Stortford, and major roads within the district include the A414, running West-East; A10, running North-South; A602, running South East to North West, and the A120, running West-East.
Stansted Airport sits at the edge of the district providing excellent international links, and a number of the towns in the District run rail services into London at King's Cross, Moorgate, or Liverpool Street.
East Herfordshire is home to a research and maufacturing centre in Ware, for pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline, but the highest concentration of businesses are in banking, finance and insurance. In 2004 there were 545 new VAT registrations in the district - the second highest in the county, next to St. Albans.
