The population of Cambridge is over 120,000 and is forecast to grow in the future as new residential developments are built out. There are around 370,000 employed residents within the Greater Cambridge area. Migration remains the largest factor in the growth of the Cambridge population, with an estimated 16,000 migrants living in Cambridge, accounting for approximately 14% of the total population.
Education and Qualification
Cambridge has a relatively young and well educated population due to high number of students attending the two Universities; 54.9% of people of working age in Cambridge are educated to NVQ level 4+.

Unemployment in Cambridgeshire stands at 2.6%, markedly below the England average of 4.3%. Cambridge city itself has a rate of 2.1%, less than half of the average unemployment across the rest of the country.
The highly educated local workforce makes this achievement more notable, as there is a high concentration of specialist knowledge-based industries operating in the region. Whilst unemployment remains low, the availability of highly qualified staff remains high in comparison to other regions in the country.
