Broadband / ICT Facilities
Leicestershire is at the heart of a government initiative to provide high speed broadband service to all of the UK by the end of the current parliament. Leicestershire is already undertaking a number of updates to bring its connectivity profile in line with the most technologically advanced areas of the UK.
Less urban environments are also taking steps to enhance their connectivity. EMDA has released funds to speed broadband projects in rural areas through the Rural Development Programme. A number of the improvements are hoped to be in place by Autumn of 2011.
