Key Competitive Attractions
South Marmara covers two provinces: Canakkale and Balikesir. Canakkale’s largest sectors are in agriculture (24.7%) and productive industry (23.5%). Food production is based around livestock farming, fisheries for tuna and fruit. Balikesir has some of the largest industrial facilities in Turkey, including Ari-Turyag, Set Cimento, BEST, Mar-Tük, İsbir, Kula, Tellioglu, Bupilic and Yaris Kabin.
Other major products in the region are olive-based goods, melon, grapes, wheat, sunflowers and sugar beets.
Tourism is a major draw to the region, with the picturesque countryside contrasting with the urban cityscapes of the provincial capitals.
