Silkroad Development Agency
Key Competitive Attractions
Silkroad Development Agency covers the provinces of Gaziantep, Adiyaman and Kilis.
Located at the edge of the historical region of Mesopotamia, the provinces are among the oldest inhabited areas in the world. The provinces are located close to the junction of the Mediterranean Sea and Southern Anatolia, and the border with Syria.
Adiyaman and Kilis are mainly agricultural economies. Kilis, in particular, is famous for the export of grapes. Gaziantep, however, is a major metropolitan area with a population of 1.3 million people. Major industries include cement, textiles, biscuits and pasta factories, leather, shoes, oil, soap, woodworking, metalworking and machinery plants. The province exports roughly 120 types of products to over 40 countries.
Among the most famous tourist attractions of Adiyaman are the statues on top of Mt Nemrut, built by the Commagene kingdom in the first century AD.
Assistance and Support For New Business Investors
The agency provides administrative, financial and technical assistance to all businesses in the region. National development plans and programmes are implemented to enhance cooperation between the public sector, private sector and non-governmental organisations.
