Key Competitive Attractions
The Zafer region consists of Afyonkarahisar, Kütahya, Manisa and Uşak provinces, located in the Northern Aegean part of Turkey. The region is a central hub for the Turkish ceramics industry (currently valued at approximately $1 billion annually). 43% of national production comes from the Kutahya-Eskisehir-Bilecik Ceramics Cluster.
In total, Zafer exports to a value of $4 billion (a year?), with 22 industrial zones set up to encourage manufacturing and production. Consumer goods ranging from textiles and leather, automobile components, and advanced electronics and home appliances are produced in the region.
Rich regional resources such as boron, magnesite, marble, silver, gold, titanium and uranium are the targets of modern mining programmes in the region. The mining industry in Turkey is expected to grow by up to seventy per cent by 2013.
