Key Competitive Attractions
The South Aegean Development Agency handles investments across the Mugla, Aydin and Denizli provinces. These provinces are well known for their unique climate, which has enabled Mugla to become the beekeeping capital of Turkey, and ensured large crops of tobacco and specialist trees for perfumery. Aydin has 201 hectares of agricultural orchards, producing value-added vegetable products: figs, olives, cotton and chestnuts. Aydin also has seven major industrial zones. Denizli has a further nine industrial zones, as well as a substantial agricultural sector. The dominant sub-sector is wine production.
The entire region benefits from a temperate climate and picturesque countryside, which has contributed to a strong tourism industry. Nimble in the face of change, The region has started to exploit geothermal and other renewable energy resources, as old industries have declined.
