The Canton of Glarus – 'or the Glarnerland' - is incorporated in the Greater Zurich Economic Area, which links the business metropolis of Zurich with the flourishing Alpine Rhine Valley (including the Vorarlberg, Liechtenstein, and the Grisons/St. Gallen Rhine Valley).
Excellent Connectivity
The A3 motorway passes through northern Glarus in aeast-west direction. Frequent rail and air services facilitate fast and easy access to other Swiss cities, as well as other countries. Administrative Efficiency
In 2011, the 25 municipalities of Glarus were merged to form three large municipalities: Glarus North, Glarus and Glarus South. This makes Glarus South the municipality with the largest area in the whole of Switzerland, and the reform has enhanced administrative efficiency.
