Lleida City has a population of 135,919 inhabitants (2009) and is one of the oldest towns in Catalonia, and the capital of the Lleida Province.

The city is home to the oldest university in Aragon, and the third oldest in Spain, built in 1297, and enriching the economy with highly educated individuals.
