Mataro enjoys quick connections to Barcelona and Girona by the C-32 motorway, as well as to Granollers via the C-60 motorway.
Mataro's traditional agricultural industries are still present, such as growing potatoes, trocadero lettuce, and peas, mainly for export. The city is also enjoying a growing tourism industry, due to numerous festivals and cultural activities.
