Zlatibor district is situated in the southwest of Serbia, bordering Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina. Zlatibor is a mostly mountainous region with a population of about 305,000. The seat of the district is Uzice.
The economy of the region is highly export oriented. Principal exports include products from processing of non-ferrous metals, fruit, military equipment and textiles.
Among the biggest economic actors is the copper and aluminium mill in Sevojno. The FAP factory in Priboj produces trucks and buses for export and FAP-FAMOS produces passenger cars. Froteks and Kadinjaca are the biggest textile manufacturers. In addition, the region is rich in various minerals (marl, magnetite, limestone and non-ferrous metals).

The Zlatibor Regional Development Agency is responsible for implementing a development strategy for the region and for promoting Zlatibor as a business environment. Their primary objective is to encourage small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs. The Local Development Office in Uzice also provides assistance to investors.
