West Romania Regional Development Agency
Key Competitive Attractions
West Romania is an area of 32,028 km sq and home to 1,958,648 people. The region is composed of four counties: Arad, Caras-Severin, Hunedoara, and Timis. The capital city is Timisoara, the fourth most populous city in Romania. Timis county is noted for being a centre for foreign investment, with a great deal of Italian and American companies investing heavily in the city.
Traditionally, the region has been associated with a higher level of affluence than the Romanian average. German and Central European influence has resulted in a multilingual, highly skilled workforce to a far greater degree than the majority of Romania.
Advantageously located with easy access to Pan-European transport corridors IV and VII, and with one of the most modern transport infrastructures in Romania, West Romania is an extremely attractive choice for foreign investors. This potential is projected to improve further in coming years, resulting from Romania’s accession into the EU in 2007.
