Key Competitive Attractions

North-East Romania borders Moldova and the Ukraine. It is composed of the six counties Bacau, Botosani, Lasi, Neamt, Suceava and Caslui. An area 36,850 sq km in size and home to 3,732,683 people, the region is largely rural and is one of the most agriculturally developed areas in Romania.

Next to agriculture, manufacturing is an important source of income, and their combined share of the regional GDP equates to 35%. However, over 50% of regional GDP is contributed by the services sector, with the remainder spread between minor industries. Foreign investment in North-East Romania has been picking up in recent years, since Romania joined the European Union.

Tourism is also an important source of income. Much of the region is picturesque with forests and beautiful architecture dating back to the fifteenth century.
