Subcarpathian Inward Investment Centre
Key Competitive Attractions
The Subcarpathian Voivodeship is located in south-east Poland. It shares borders with Ukraine and Slovakia. The region benefits from a well-developed infrastructure and higher education system. Air, rail and road links into the region and into eastern markets are a major draw for investors.
Following the establishment of the Central Industrial Region in 1930, major industries have developed in the area, based largely on manufacturing; automobiles, electronics, food processing, chemicals and assorted light industry make up the majority of employment.
Over 750 foreign companies invest in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, contributing over $3 million to the local economy. Over 80% of these companies are involved in industry and manufacturing. The Special Economic Zones are credited with some of this success, with large corporations including Lear, BRW, LG Electronics, Toshiba and Goodrich Aerospace having invested in these projects.
New incentives are underway to attract more advanced high-tech industries to the region. These include the formation of technical clusters to support electro-mechanical and chemical sectors, as well as the existing Subcarpathian Science and Technology Park Aeropolis in Rzeszow. Capitalising on the region’s strong aviation past, the Aeropolis has become home to MTU Aero Engines and Borg Warner.
