Made in Pomorskie is the dedicated website to promote the Pomeranian Voivodeship for business investment. The Pomeranian Voivodeship is the logistical hub of Poland, home to Poland’s two biggest ports, a major airport, and two Pan-European Transport Corridors.
This exceptional connectivity has inevitably attracted high volumes of foreign investment in recent years. A total of 1,216 foreign companies operated in Pomerania in 2008, employing over 67,900 people.
The region boasts both a thriving industrial sector, and an important high-tech, knowledge-based sector. Industrial activity accounts for 33% of regional employment, with key industries including food and drink production, metal products, transport equipment production, and the manufacture of computers, electronic components and optical products.
Shipping, maritime and logistics constitute a large proportion of the regional GDP. The Port of Gdansk has two container terminals, a coal terminal, two ferry terminals (handling both Ro-Ro and passenger vessels), and 8 further terminals handling various cargo, including bulk cargo, chemicals, LPG and various gases, coal, steel, scrap metal, wood, grain, and liquid fuel.
With many science parks and universities specialising in an assortment of sectors, such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and ICT, the region offers a highly innovative platform from which investors can grow.
