Kuyavia-Pomerania is a major junction in Poland’s transportation system for road and rail traffic between southern and eastern Europe, and the major Baltic Sea ports.
Bydgoszcz and Torun are the main cities of the region, sharing regional capital status.
In the ‘Investment attractiveness of voivodships and sub-regions of Poland 2010’, the Bydgoszcz-Torun sub-region ranked thus:
- 7th place: For ‘investment attractiveness with respect to industrial activity’, based on transport accessibility (particularly for the ports of Tri-City), labour costs and improved economic infrastructure.
- 7th place: For ‘investment attractiveness with respect to services’ based on high purchasing power, availability of qualified staff and graduates, and an international airport.
- 8th place: For ‘attractiveness with respect to advanced technologies’.
