Buskerud County includes the western part of the Oslo fjord and the central mountain plateaus, offering a varied landscape of mountains, coasts, valleys, forests, and Oslo city centre – Norway’s capital. Add to this a plethora of important cultural attractions, such as the Blaavarveverket in Modum and the silver mines in Kongsberg, and it is clear why Buskerud enjoys a flourishing tourism industry.
Other than tourism, the main industries of the region include agricultural activities, wood production, engineering, and hydro-electric power.
The southern part of the county is particularly important in Norway for industry, due to its proximity to the capital city, and is also a significant transport hub for traffic going south toward Stavanger and west toward Bergen.
