Assistance and Support For New Business Investors

The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) was formed over three decades ago, and is an operational division of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. The NFIA aims to provide companies with a free, confidential service that offers advice, practical assistance, and provides a gateway to a network of business and government contacts.

Over the years the NFIA has helped thousands of international companies establish themselves in the Netherlands, who have recognised the potential of the Dutch corporate environment, and have taken advantage of its strategic location amongst several strong European markets.

The NFIA is working in close collaboration with Dutch embassies, consulates-general, and other organisations representing the Dutch government in foreign countries, including Technical Scientific Attachés and Netherlands Business Support Offices (NBSOs). Together they have helped hundreds out of the nearly 8,000 foreign companies that have set up operations in the Netherlands.

Major international companies the NFIA has assisted include:

• North American companies: Reebok, Cisco Systems, Bombardier, Boeing, Eastman Chemical, Medtronic, Boeing, Abbott Laboratories, Starbucks Coffee, and NCR Corporation.
• European companies: Bosch, EMI, Danone, BOC Group, and RWE.
• Asian and Middle Eastern companies: Teijin, Hitachi, Yakult, Giant, BenQ, Samsung, Daewoo, LG Electronics, Huawei, Sony Corporation, Saudi Aramco, Tata Consultancy Services and SABIC.

NFIA is strategically placed to offer extensive support to a diverse range of foreign companies, with headquarters located in The Hague, and local offices in the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Turkey, China, Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Taiwan, India, Malaysia, and Singapore. There is also an office in Brazil, which has substantial knowledge of native issues.
