Galway has become the latest choice of location for Metal Improvement Company, (MIC), international provider of advanced metal treatment services and technologies. Capitalising on Ireland’s reputation as Europe’s leading hub for medical device manufacture, (ICE Group), MIC is investing €1.4 million into a new metal treatment facility in Parkmore West Business Campus.
John Perry TD, the Minister of State at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation, officially opened the facility in Galway on Thursday 24th March 2011.
He announced at the opening: “Ireland offers a great place from which to do business with its ease of access to the EU, an increasingly competitive environment and a highly skilled and talented workforce.”
With an established cluster of medical device companies already in Galway, the new high tech facility will be a complementary feature, and MIC intends to expand its international business activity from this base in Ireland.
A High Tech Manufacturing Environment
Metal Improvement Company manufactures critical equipment, parts and components, such as medical devices, in a quality-assured, high tech manufacturing environment, using advanced coating equipment such as long coating chambers, for large scale parts, and static coating systems, for high precision components.
Specialism of the Facility
Metal Improvement Company’s new facility in the Parkmore business park will specialise in Parylene PVD coating, most commonly used for medical device manufacturing, aerospace and electronics industries.
The company already has twenty years’ experience in this specific high tech coating process, thanks to its sister company, Parylene Coating Services, Inc. based in Texas, which has been running since 1991.
International Business Network
Metal Improvement Company has over 60 years’ experience in the industry, and has been a subsidiary of Curtiss-Wright Corporation since 1968. The company has expanded across various sectors all over the world, providing highly engineered services and products to the energy, aerospace, defence, and nuclear industries.
With over 65 facilities throughout Europe, North America, and Asia, and twenty years’ experience in Parylene coating, MIC is in a strong position to achieve their goal of expanding within the EMEA market to meet the rising demand in their area of expertise.
Services of Metal Improvement Company
MIC offers free consultations and has a long tradition of delivering innovative solutions to accommodate customer requirements, currently serving almost 1,000 UK customers.
Future Development Plans
Metal Improvement Company aims to have created a total of up to 50 new jobs by 2015, and immediate plans include responding to Europe’s escalating demand for specialised technical coatings for medical devices
Ben Hayes, UK and Ireland Regional Sales Manager of MIC said: “We are excited about our new facility and look forward to working closely with IDA Ireland, Irish Universities and the local business community as we expand our operation.” These partnerships will help Metal Improvement Company to realise its development plans.
