The West Macedonia Development Company (previously the Kozani Development Company), was founded in 1985, and has much experience is helping companies settle and expand within the region.
West Macedonia is situated strategically in the northwest of Greece for reaching south European markets. It borders Albania, and includes the prefectures of Florina, Grevena, Kastoria, and Kozani, its administrative and logistics centre.
Approximately 80% of the region is mountainous territory, and is rich in important natural resources, such as power minerals, ores, water and wood (50% of area is covered by forests.)
There is an Industrial Area in operation in Florina, and one under construction in Kozani. In addition, the Technological Educational Institute is a significant player in the region’s research and educational activities.
The industries of mining, textiles, and electric power production are the main sources of economic output, with 70% of Greece’s power being produced in the West Macedonia region. The main products of the area include marble, Saffron, fruit, wines, fur, leather, and crafts.
