Searching for Your Ideal Business Location

The German state of Rhineland-Palatinate (Rheinland-Pfalz) is located towards the south west of the country. Rhineland-Palatinate covers an area of 19,846 square kilometres and about four million inhabitants. It borders France, Luxembourg, and Belgium as well as the German states of Hessen, Saarland, Baden-Wurttemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia. The capital is Mainz.

Rhineland-Palatinate benefits from its close proximity to Frankfurt as well as to two of Germany’s largest metropolitan areas, the Rhine-Ruhr region in North Rhine-Westphalia and particularly the nearby Rhine-Main region. It has a well-connected road and motorway network, and Mainz railway station is connected to the German high-speed ICE network, located on the Cologne-Frankfurt line.

Rhineland-Palatinate is Germany's leading producer of wine in terms of grape cultivation and wine export. The region is also the home of BASF, the world’s largest chemical company.

Rhineland-Palatinate’s key business sectors are:

  • Chemicals
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Automotive manufacturing
  • Food and drink production
  • Nautical engineering
