Large-scale research centres, foundations and scientific facilities in the region include: the Mérieux Foundation, the Scientific Foundation of Lyon and Southeastern France, The Rhône-Alpes Future Foundation, the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), the French Nuclear Energy Commission (CEA), the Information Technology Electronics Laboratory (LETI), the Minatec center for innovation in micro and nano-technology, the International Agency for Research on Cancer and the French Petroleum Institute.
