Key Competitive Attractions
The Pyrenées Orientales department enjoys a healthy economy, with booming Tourism and Agriculture. The General Council\'s main activities include:
- Coordinating policies to encourage the efficient creation of businesses
- Personalised assistance
- Facilitating innovative approaches to enterprise
- Facilitating the establishment of enterprises
- Promoting employment and regional development
- Encouraging the development of integration enterprises (AEs), intermediate associations (AI) and employers\' groups to promote integration and qualification (GEIQ)
The EU funds for 2007-2013 have developed the Territorial Cooperation Objective, which includes specific programs for each geographical area, of which the department is eligible for four:
- Cooperation towards the Iberian peninsula Interreg IV B
- Cooperation Programme for Northern Mediterranean INTERREG IV B MED
- Cooperation Programme for the whole of Europe Interreg IV C
- Cooperation Program for the Mediterranean (ENPI-CT)
