France has a total of 71 innovation clusters, which unite businesses, higher education and research institutions in order to create leading-edge projects across all sectors. Since 2005, there have been 2,000 R&D projects with the participation of 12,000 researchers and numerous foreign companies.
Innovation clusters in France provide foreign investors with a range of advantages, such as partnership and subcontractor opportunities. Projects within innovation clusters can be eligible to receive government, region, local and EU support. Recent reforms in France have established that innovations clusters will receive €1.5 billion of support over a period of three years.
