Food & drink production

Key Reasons:

Champagne-Ardenne is the 2nd biggest food-producing region in France. The region is ideally placed at the crossroads of major West-European consumer centres, close to headquarters of leading super and hypermarket chains and resources.

The sector includes 232 production companies and has an annual turnover of € 6.9 billion. Champagne-Ardenne is also home to the world's leading packaging-packing branch.

Champagne-Ardenne has excellent R&D specialising in the food industry:

The region’s education institutions offer numerous specialist training courses in both the food processing and agribusiness sectors, which includes an Organic Agribusiness course. There is also specialised packaging course in the National Packaging Engineering School - the only one of its kind in Europe.

Champagne-Ardenne has an infrastructure particularly suited to food processing activities. Business parks are designed to deal with the needs of the food processing industry (such as wastewater treatment), and the Paris-Vatry international freight airport is equipped to handle perishables and is an officially recognised point-of-entry for the European Community.
