Located on the coast, Ostrobothnia is responsible for approximately 60% of the boats and marine products manufactured in Finland. Famous for its determined people and cultural traditions, Ostrobothnia is roughly 7,900 km sq, and is home to 175,000 people, one of the few places in Finland where the majority of residents speak Swedish.
Ostrobothnia has strong agricultural roots, producing 70% of the Finnish tomato crop, and 40% of the Finnish cucumber crop. Approximately 20% of the Finnish energy export is produced in Ostrobothnia, with the Vaasa Energy cluster helping to promote cooperation between the various interests in the energy sector. The region also contributes to the forestry and metals industry.
