Central Finland's cultural scene is well supported, and tourism is important to the region. Jyvaskyla hosts the oldest Arts Festival in the country, as well as a Summer Jazz festival. Central Finland covers approximately 20,000 km sq, of which 13,000 km sq is occupied by forest, and 3,000 km sq by lakes.
