Key Competitive Attractions
Maardu was once supported by the phosphorus fields located near the town, but recent years have seen that industry decline in favour of more economically promising prospects.
This restructuring is still an on-going project, but the town is now the site of over 300 transport and logistics companies operating in Estonia from Europe, America and China. Muuga Harbour handles approximately 80% of the cargo volume passing through Estonia, and is one of the deepest ports in the Baltic Sea.
Maardu is investing heavily in the port, with more berths and new terminals underway. An extensive Free Zone with reduced customs fees has also been established.
Assistance and Support For New Business Investors
Maardu’s local government handles relations with foreign investors directly. They are available to field enquiries about potential investment projects, and provide support and advice to potential investors seeking.
