Zlin is located in the south east of the Czech Republic. Home to 590,484 people in an area of 3,964 km sq, Zlin is named after its capital, and has the highest number of folklore events in Central Europe.
Economically, Zlin has a focus on engineering and production. Rubber, plastic and steel are particular strengths of the region, and these industries continue to provide the economic basis for the region. Holesov Industrial Zone, home of the Progress Technology Park, is part of a recent shift in ethos which will see Zlin start to develop into more modern industries.
