Usti nad Labem is the 7th most densely populated city in the Czech Republic with 96,825 inhabitants. It is the administrative, cultural, educational and commercial centre of the Northwest Bohemia region. Usti nad Labem has traditionally been supported by chemical and mining industries. These industries are undergoing major industrial restructuring, and this has led to the highest unemployment rate in the Czech Republic.
